Parents - Information
Welcome Back for the 2022-2023 school year!
We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready for another exciting school year at Queen Elizabeth Elementary. Please read the following information carefully, as the information is grade specific.
All Incoming Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten students do not attend school for the First Week (September 6 – 9th). Kindergarten students will begin attending in Week 2 (Sept 12 –16th) following our Gradual Intake Schedule. Your child’s specific gradual intake schedule and expectations will be communicated to you directly by your child’s teacher at the Kindergarten Orientation session and your individual Family Interview.
Grade 1 – 4 Students:
ALL Grade 1-4 Students attend for one hour in the morning on Tuesday, September 6th, from 8:55 AM to 9:55 AM, and begin full day instruction on Wednesday, September 7th.
On Tuesday, September 6th ALL Grade 1-4 Students and Families are asked to arrive at the Service Road entrance off Salter Street OR along the path adjacent to the Community Centre.
Staff will be on hand to help direct you and your child to their Division Number Lineup where they will be greeted by teachers and brought through a basic orientation within their new classrooms. They will be brought back to these lineups for dismissal and pick up at 9:55 AM.
LINE UP Numbers will be sent to all Grade 1-4 families on Monday, September 5th by 3PM. Please watch for that email and ensure you are able to communicate that number to a staff member upon arrival so that we can efficiently direct you to the correct lineup.
On Wednesday, September 7th all Grade 1-4 students will return to the same classroom lineups as they did on Tuesday, September 6th, and will be dismissed to those same lineups at the regular time of 3PM.
Timeline for Grade 1 – 4 Students
Tuesday, Sept 6th – Opening Day – Students attend from 8:55 AM – 9:55 AM
Wednesday, Sep 7th – Regular School Hours Begin – 8:55AM – 3:00PM
As we prepare the start of another school year we want to assure students and parents that health and safety remains our top priority. While we are looking forward to a continued return to normal we recognize that Covid is still present in our community and we will continue to work hard to keep our community healthy:
Specifically:
- Staggered Recess and Lunch breaks to maximize student space in our play spaces
- Frequent hand washing
- Creative assemblies to maximize space when bringing students together indoors
- Air Filtration in the school and portables
- Disposable Masks available to those that want them
And most importantly we remind families – please be diligent with daily health checks for both you and your children. Please do not come to the school or send students to school if they have symptoms of cough or fever. For a complete list of symptoms please see the BC Centre for Disease Control.
