Principal’s Message – May 27th
Dear Queen Elizabeth School Community,
June is just around the corner. Please see the following important information, and upcoming dates and events to close out the 2021-22 school year!
Walk and Roll to School – May 30th – June 3rd
It is Walk and Roll to school next week and we are encouraging our entire community to leave the car and Walk or Roll to school. This week we have been continuing our message that even families that need to drive to school, have nearby Park and Walk options. We are trying to avoid the convenience parking that happens at the front of the school to open up our streets, keep sight lines open for crossing the street and traffic flowing safely. There is plenty of street parking on Salter West of Howes and East of Carter that allow for easy Parking and Walking, leaving our round-a-bout area for those dropping off without parking, and those that truly need to park close to the school as they have mobility issues.
Please make the effort next week to arrive earlier, park away from the school and walk. You will notice a significant difference in the congestion at the front of the school and we will all benefit from the added safety for our kids. Your support, effort and cooperation are truly appreciated.
We will celebrate our achievement on the morning of Wednesday, June 1st where families will be able to report their method of getting to school at drop of zone receiving stations and enter a draw for cool prizes!
Grade 4 Queensborough Middle School Visits – Thursday, June 2
Grade 4 students will visit QMS on June 2nd in the morning to have a quick tour and get oriented to their new school. They will attend in their 3 class groupings between 10:00 AM and Noon.
Sports Day – Friday, June 10th
Sports Day is scheduled for Friday, June 10th on the large field in Ryall Park across Salter (where the baseball diamonds are). This year our Sports Day theme will be PIRATES! and we are excited to welcome our families back to join in the fun. Please see the following schedule for your child’s Sports Day time and please come and join us! Further information and reminders will come closer to the day.
Sports Day Schedule:
9:20 AM – Kindergarten and Grade 1 – Following drop off parents that wish to join us are asked to make their way to the Ryall Park field across Salter, classes will take attendance and get organized to arrive as soon as they can. We are aiming for a 9:20 AM start.
10:15 – 10:45 AM – Recess Break
11:00 AM – Grade 2, 3 and 4 – Part 1 – Parents can arrive to the Ryall Park Field
12:25 – 1:10 PM – Lunch Break
1:30 – 2:45 PM – Grade 2, 3, and 4 – Part 2 – Parents can arrive to the Ryall Park Field
Grade 4 Graduation Ceremony – Thursday, June 16th @ 10:00/10:45/11:30 AM
We will hold three separate Graduation events on Thursday, June 16 and parents are encouraged to attend. Please pay careful attention to the schedule below so you arrive on time for your child’s ceremony.
10:00 – 10: 45 AM – Division 1, Mr Dominguez
10:45 – 11:30 AM – Division 2, Mr Dunning
11:30 – 12:15 PM – Division 3, Ms Minto
Parents are asked to arrive to the school before the ceremony and be ready to be welcomed into the gym just before your child’s ceremony start time. Parents will enter first and be seated at the rear of our gymnasium, students will enter promptly at the start time and each ceremony will take approximately 30 minutes.
Grade 4 Year End Pizza Party and Slide Show – Friday, June 24th
Friday, June 24th we will hold a year end pizza party graciously supported by our Parents Advisory Council. Students will watch a year end slide show and be treated to a pizza lunch to celebrate their final days at Queen Elizabeth!
