Welcome Back!

Dear Queen Elizabeth School Community,

Welcome Back for the 2022-23 school year!

We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready for another exciting school year at Queen Elizabeth Elementary.

Please read the following information carefully, as the information is grade specific.

All Incoming Kindergarten Students

Kindergarten students do not attend school for the First Week (September 6 – 9th).  Kindergarten students will begin attending in Week 2 (Sept 12 –16th) following our Gradual Intake Schedule. Your child’s specific gradual intake schedule and expectations will be communicated to you directly by your child’s teacher at the Kindergarten Orientation session and your individual Family Interview.

Kindergarten Orientation

Parents will attend a short orientation session on Wednesday, September 7th at 9:30 AM to meet their child’s teacher, receive important information on how to best support your child’s school start, and to book an individual Family Interview. All Parents will arrive for the Orientation session at the Kindergarten line up area between the service road and the tennis courts at the city park.

Your child’s teacher will email you further details directly on Tuesday, September 6th confirming your arrival lineup location (Division Number) at the school, for the orientation session on Wednesday, September 7th.

Individual Family Interviews

Individual Family Interviews will be scheduled and held in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 7th; all day on Thursday, September 8th; and all day on Friday, September 9th. The goal of the individual family interviews is to welcome families into their child’s classroom and provide families and teachers an opportunity to get to know each other better. Teachers will review expectations, routines and further discuss school readiness to help ensure success for your child’s all important first year of school. Kindergarten students DO attend the Individual Family Interview.

As we prepare the start of another school year we want to assure students and parents that health and safety remains our top priority. While we are looking forward to a continued return to normal we recognize that Covid is still present in our community and we will continue to work hard to keep our community healthy:

Specifically:

  • Staggered Recess and Lunch breaks to maximize student space in our play spaces
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Creative assemblies to maximize space when bringing students together indoors
  • Air Filtration in the school and portables
  • Disposable Masks available to those that want them

And most importantly we remind families – please be diligent with daily health checks for both you and your children. Please do not come to the school or send students to school if they have symptoms of cough or fever. For a complete list of symptoms please see the BC Centre for Disease Control.

Thank you,

Again Welcome Back and please do not hesitate to contact me directly should you have any further questions.

Thank you
