Principal’s Message ~ June 4th

Dear Queen Elizabeth School Community,

June has arrived! We welcome the warmer weather and look forward to the month ahead. Please see the updates and information below:

Reconciliation Week
Staff and Students would like to share some of the work we have been doing this month and particularly this week, towards Truth and Reconciliation. Please follow the link QE Stands With You to see some of our work. Also please find here a collection of resources that you mind find helpful at home.

Grade 4 Leaving Ceremony
Every year at this time we reluctantly say goodbye to our graduating class of Grade 4s as they make their way on to Middle School. We will miss them greatly and wish them all the best as they transition to their new school. We will hold leaving ceremonies for each of Grade 4 divisions but unfortunately we will not be able to include our families this year. Ceremonies will be held by division on June 17 and June 18 in our school gymnasium. Students will receive a Graduation Certificate, enjoy a year end slide show and receive a graduation picture that we will send home to families.

Sports Day!
June 22nd we will hold a modified Sports Day for all divisions. Our Sports Day Team of Ms Rowe, Ms Blakeway and Ms Yee will set up Sports Day stations on the large field at Ryall Park and classrooms will participate in individual learning groups. As always a cool treat to finish! Regrettably we will not be able to invite Parents to cheer us on this year.

Registration and Enrolment
At present our school population for next year is at 443 students across 21 divisions. We will have 5 Kindergarten Classes, 4 Grade 1 classes, a Grade 1/2 class, 4 Grade 2 Classes, 4 Grade 3 Classes and 3 Grade 4 Classes. While there is always the potential for change, this will likely be how we organize heading into the 2021/22 school year.

School Start 2021/22
As we wind down the 2020/21 school year and turn our attention to next, understandably many families are curious how next year will look. With Covid case numbers on the decline and restrictions easing there is optimism that we are getting closer and closer to a return to normal in all aspects of our lives. We can’t say for certain what September School Start Up will look like, but we will ensure that we communicate further details with you as soon as more information becomes available. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out should you have further questions or concerns.

Queensborough Children’s Festival – June 19, 20
