Principal’s Message – June 2nd
Dear Queen Elizabeth School Community,
Spring Choir Performance – Wednesday, June 7th @ 5PM QCC Stage
All families are invited for a short Choir Performance at 5PM at the Queensborough Community Centre Outdoor Stage on June 7th. Weather looks great, we encourage you to join us and help celebrate the Year End with songs from our Grade 3/4 Choir!
Sports Day! Friday, June 9th
June brings year end activities and maybe most popular of all, our annual SPORTS DAY! This year’s Sports Day will follow a similar format as previous years. We will be at Ryall Park South (corner of Salter and Carter) and parents are encouraged to join us! Please ensure your child is prepared for hot, sunny weather with hats, sunscreen and appropriate footwear for running, balancing, dancing and you name it!
Our Kindergarten/Grade 1 students will begin Sports day at 9:20AM and continue until there recess break at 10:20AM
Grade 2 – 4 students Sports Day will start at 11:00AM, break for lunch at the regular time (12:24 – 1:10 AM), and continue again for round 2 at 1:30PM.
The event wraps up with the famous Tug-of-War at 2:30PM
Our fantastic PAC will be providing a refreshment station and a Cheese Pizza Lunch for the entire school! Thank you!
* Please ensure you provide your child a recess snack and a lunch if they do not like cheese pizza or require additional food. Each child will receive 2 slices of cheese pizza if they wish.
Soccer!
Our recent after school Soccer Program run by the New Westminster Soccer Club (NWSC) was a huge success. The program filled almost immediately, and we will definitely look to add more opportunities for students to participate in the coming year.
We were also very fortunate to have the Whitecaps provide soccer sessions for students this past week on May 30 and May 31 at the QMS field. The program was extremely well run and Staff and Students learned some new skills and had a lot of fun.
Soccer is very popular at QE (as evidenced by the number of soccer balls we go through in a year!) and continues to be the sport of choice for our students at recess and lunch. Families of interested students should consider joining the NWSC this year – registration is open now. We will be working with the NWSC in the coming year to provide additional programming in our gym and surrounding field and practice facilities for the club to enable QE families to participate in the club more easily. Red Fox Active Play is offering FREE Summer Programs at several New Westminster Park Locations this summer including Queensborough. Please find the registration information here.

We will also publish our 2023 – 24 QE Events Calendar in early September 2023 which identifies our School Wide Events for the year. There may be a few changes throughout the year but we are pleased to be able to inform you when events like Sports Day, our Annual Runs (Terry Fox, Pumkin Run and Jingle Bell Jog), Grade 4 Year End Leaving Events, Family Conferences, Choir Events, Young Entrepreneurs, Spirit Days, Photo Days and much more, all happen! Stay tuned for this Calendar in the Fall of 2023.
