Principal’s Message ~ June 25th
Dear Queen Elizabeth Elementary School Community,
Well it’s official. The 2019-20 school year has come to a close and although it was a finish like no other, what hasn’t changed is the bitter sweet feelings of excitement for the anticipated break with friends and family and the sadness of saying goodbye to students, families and colleagues.
We have several staff members leaving us this year.
Ms Carmen Gong – Grade 2/3
Ms Kimberly Wong – Grade 3/4
Ms Neelima Gupta – Grade 1 and 2
Ms Jenni Yang – Grade 3 and Library
Ms Gagandeep Badesha – Educational Assistant
Ms Lindsay Spencer – Educational Assistant
Ms Shahan Gill – Child Care Worker
Mr Rory Workman – Gym
Ms Isabella Lam – Vice Principal
Staff leave our school each year for a variety of reasons. Some have only had short term temporary positions, some are off to pursue further education, join new schools or to bring new members into our QE family! All our staff quickly become an important part of the fabric at QE, and it is hard to see them go. We will miss them all and wish them all the best in the coming year.
One such special staff member leaving us this year was a little unexpected, but not surprising. Ms Isabella Lam has had a profound impact on our school and community and she will be greatly missed. Ms Lam is off to Lord Tweedsmuir as Vice Principal for the 2020-21 school year as she continues her administrative career on the road to a Principalship. We wish you all the best Ms Lam, and remind you we are not far away if you need anything from your QE family. We love you, and we thank you for all you have done for our community.
Reminders … a few important reminders before the year is up.
While we still are not certain what September 2020 and the start of the year will look like PLEASE watch your emails carefully in late August for further updates. We will work hard to determine schedules and expectations over the summer as we continue to receive information about BC’s reopening plan and how that impacts schools.
Find our 2020-21 School Calendar here.
Tomorrow, Thursday, June 25th by 1:00 pm report cards will be published in MyEd as they were in Term 2. Grade 4 Graduation
We recognized our Grade 4 students this week in a series of Graduation Events. A huge thank you to the staff for putting this all together. We are so proud of all of our students and we wish you all the best as you move on to Queensborough Middle School and beyond. Don’t forget us, we won’t forget you.
And finally this year we wanted to leave you with a message from all of us at QE. This video was created by the students of QE and Ms Mellor and Ms Johnson. I think it sums up the last few months perfectly. We need all our hands to make a difference.
