Principal’s Message – April 6th
Dear Queen Elizabeth School Community,

School Expansion Update
Today we are sharing an update on the ongoing work to push forward the expansion project at our school, in advance of an upcoming report that will be provided to the Board of Education on Tuesday night at their Operations and Planning Committee meeting.
The project is still in what is called the “development permit application stage,” as the District is working alongside all partners to address multiple challenges of this complex site.
The complexity of construction includes planning for this large expansion on what is a constrained (small) site, as well as geo-technical challenges that include our school’s location within the Fraser River flood plain. These factors have led to requiring additional in-depth analysis to ensure that the expansion is built in the safest possible way, with design optimizations that deliver both on value and on our ability to create spaces designed for 21st century learning. Due to these factors, the planning stages have taken more time than was originally contemplated, which is why we’re currently anticipating a delay of opening into the 2025-26 school year.
The District is currently working on various studies and surveys as they prepare for the City of New Westminster design review panel. We will be sending you a link to a transportation survey soon that will be part of this process.
As we know more about how this project continues to move forward, we will share that news with you as it is available.
Spring Afterschool Programs
There is still time to register for our Spring Afterschool Programs! Space remains in the Coding and Drawing Programs, while the Soccer and Sports programs are currently full. Please see the linked Registration Flyer for details and registration links.

*Students will be dismissed to their programs from classrooms, parents need only arrive to pick up at the conclusion of the program.
